Arianne's profile

I was born and raised in Baltimore. Most of my roots are laid deep in the concrete. I've never really been outside the state or even out of country. Really, I've been struggling to make ends meet most of my life some days not eating. But I found many people living in Baltimore have had it the same way. Now I don't have a huge sob story, I know others have had it worse. But I do know the definition of pain and suffering. I also know the definition of inadequacy and self loathing. Fear is a funny thing, it can make you or break you. Sometimes fear keeps you from doing something stupid or it can keep you from doing anything at all. Life isn't meant to be feared but embraced. Make it your strength by overcoming and taking some risk living every moment to its fullest. When you are fearless you are free. Just trying is better than wondering "what if" for the rest of your life. Right now in my life I need to do more doing than sitting around wondering those fatalistic words.

Now personally I like the simple forms of art. I love clay and paint of any medium. My favorite style is cartooning. I'd love nothing more than to write and illustrate my stories.

I've always been fascinated with the arts. My mom dabbled drawing and the performing arts. My father was usually always the lead roles for musicals as well as my uncle. Even my great grandmother took art classes still having her wooden art case with her name engraved in it. My mom and I even like to make our own clothes and design t-shirts.

I graduated from Patapsco High School and Center for the Arts. There I really learned my strengths and weaknesses. From there I took classes at CCBC, Community College of Baltimore County. Right now I struggle to find my niche in this world. Due to the economy I have no choice but to go to school and work at a place I like but wish not to advance in. I long for the chance to do more of what I love which is to bring my magical world to life hoping to get a message across that no matter where you come from or how destitute you might be, your voice will be heard and your art cherished.

Art is a piece of your soul and as an Indian proverb goes "Stories need to be told or else they suffocate and die". The story itself, no matter how it's told verbally or visually, is a living entity. Give birth to it and watch it grow,
