Daniel's profile

I have been working as an artist for 38 years. I never formally studied art. Rather, following my interests, I made a study of art. In that respect I suppose I am self taught. For the most part, stained glass has been my primary medium. I have worked on many commissions, both private residences and public spaces. Over the years my work has come to include drawing, painting, and sculpture . The sculptures have been largely of two types: steel and stained glass constructions, and assemblages of found objects. These various endeavors both inform and are no doubt informed by my work in stained glass. The notion of art as a way of life (as opposed to a way to make a living) has served as a compass over these many years. I have been fortunate through the effort of my own explorations, (and often enough patrons willing to join in the shared risk of commissioning me) to develop a vocabulary in glass of a contemporary idiom. This ever developing vocabulary has provided ample room for personal expression as well as a mode of expression applicable to architectural settings.
