Raymond's profile

Raymond's journey as an artist began as both a musician and photographer at the famous Frederick Douglass High School in Baltimore, Maryland. His earliest work in Black and White 35 mm photography collided with his love for instrumental music when he did a series of portrait photos of fellow band members during his senior year in 1973. This experience helped Raymond realize his knack for capturing captivating moods and expressions in his work and was further inspired by the fact that the pictures in this series continue to be very popular today.

Years later, Raymond's passion for emerging technology brought him back, again, to combining his love of photography and music. He embraced the new world of digital cameras and software tools to capture and transform his works from what the camera simply saw, to what he wanted to see.

Raymond was drawn to capture pictures of musicians in action because of the intensity and passion of their expressions. He is especially intrigued by Jazz musicians because the improvisational nature of jazz brings even more dimension and intensity to the faces of the musicians.

Raymond also enjoys the serenity of nature scenes and enjoys enhancing them with vibrant, brilliant colors beyond the capacity of the naked eye.
