About Grace

Baltimore City

I strive to create paintings that are both psychologically intriguing and true to nature. The mystery lies in the lack of clear narrative. The human figure is a fascinating subject and I continue to explore it because of the potential for self-reflection and individual response of the viewer. My work is grouped into different portfolios by subject matter and artistic direction.

Comtemporary Realities

I strive to create paintings that are both psychologically intriguing and true to nature. The mystery lies in the lack of clear narrative. These paintings explore an opposing situation: contemporary people and objects and a classical palette and composition. The human figure is a fascinating subject and I continue to explore it because of the potential for self-reflection and individual response of the viewer.

Endless Narrative

In these paintings I explore narrative and the lack of it. I prefer to leave the narratives in my paintings uncertain, open for anyone's interpretation. However strange the situation may seem, the viewer is always left with a feeling of tranquility. In Darth, Sunday's Child, The Boy Billy, and Neptune, the figures have a stronger presence, like an idol, or the images feel like a portrait illustrating the sitter's personality. Painting is a way to create a world outside of the one we live in, where the finished picture is determined by the artist's personal aesthetics.

Pet Portraits

These oil paintings pay tribute to human companions. These animals are pets, or 4-legged family members, as I consider them. Animals are know to have a therapeutic benefit for people. They do not judge you, they can reduce anxiety and depression, lower blood pressure, and improve cardiovascular health.
