About Rafaela

Rafaela Dreisin is an active promoter of the arts and education in Baltimore City. Rafaela received her Masters degree from The Peabody Conservatory of The Johns Hopkins University where she studied trumpet. After completing her studies, Rafaela went on to work for the Baltimore Symphony's ORCHkids program where she serves as the Senior Site Manger of ORCHkids, a program providing high level music education to underserved Baltimore City youth. Senior Site Manager @ BSO OrchKids at Mary Ann Winterling Elementary School

OrchKids is a year-round during and after school music program designed to create social change and nurture promising futures for youth in Baltimore City neighborhoods. Under Baltimore Symphony Orchestra music director Marin Alsop’s artistic leadership and direction, OrchKids is the cornerstone of the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra’s efforts to expand the Orchestra’s relevance within the broad and diverse Baltimore community. In collaboration with several community partners, including Baltimore City Public Schools, OrchKids provides music education, instruments, academic instruction, meals, as well as performance and mentorship opportunities at no cost.

OrchKids is inspired by Venezuela’s El Sistema, the music program that has transformed the lives of hundreds of thousands of children in the country’s most impoverished areas in only 40 years.
Currently we work with 4 Public Elementary School in Baltimore City serving close to 600 children from Pre-Kindergarten thought the 7th grade

Organizer, BSO Take-Out Sessions

The BSO Take-Out Sessions were a collaboration series between Classical Revolution Baltimore and The Baltimore Symphony Orchestra. The series was designed to attract new classical music audiences by organizing performances of Baltimore Symphony musicians outside of the concert hall in tandem with upcoming BSO full orchestra concerts.

Director, Classical Revolution Baltimore

Classical Revolution Baltimore is a collective of musicians looks to promote more public access to classical music by organizing chamber concerts in unlikely settings such as bars and cafes. Classical Revolution Baltimore has sparked a movement in Baltimore to think outside of the box in classical music presentation. Since the chapter's inception in October 2011, the group has received critical acclaim and has been featured in an article in The Baltimore Sun and was invited to perform at TEDxMidAtlantic 2012 in a talk entitled, 'Taking Classical Music to the Street's. The group has performed over 75 free concerts in Baltimore and collaborated with the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra, Evolution Contemporary Music Series, and more!
